Lake Fishing

The River Forth at Aberfoyle is a beautiful stretch of water that’s well worth a visit for anglers.

Open Water Swimming

Avoid busy boating areas when swimming. Loch Ard is a quieter local choice, while Milarrochy Bay is larger but often more crowded.

Woodland Walks

Experience the views from a different perspective by hopping on one of the many cruises or water buses available to hire or charter.

River Trail

Accessed via the Meadow Pitches, the River Trail is a well-worn, undulating route. It’s easier to follow than the Woodland Walk, but not wheelchair or pushchair friendly.

Doon Hill

Doon Hill and the Fairy Knowe in Aberfoyle, Loch Lomond & The Trossachs, offer a 1.5–2 hour, 2-mile circular walk famed for its fairy folklore, featuring fairy houses, a “fairy tree” decorated with clues (rags/ribbons), and a steep path to the summit.

Aberfoyle Cycle Path

Access the Aberfoyle Cycle Path from the main road—leave the site, turn left over the bridge, then left again onto the signposted path. It runs directly into Aberfoyle, around 2 miles away.
