Happy Mothering Sunday..

Today is a day of joy for many, for others, a difficult day.

I count my blessings to be mum to 2 wonderful young men, one who I will see today and another who lives in Thailand and I see so much less than I would like to. I am grateful however that he is living his life and is happy. I am also grateful for technology that enables us still to all work together and be in regular contact.

It is not only me that has mothered them though. They have had many wonderful women in their life who have mothered them too and taught them life lessons from a different perspective. They have benefited from this love and knowledge immeasurably.

You do not need to give birth to be a mother figure in a young person’s life. There is an old African proverb that says “it takes a village to raise a child” and I really do believe it. I have also had the privilege of mothering other people’s children. The pleasure that has given me is huge and my life is so much better for it.

I also count my blessings to have had a wonderful mum who dedicated 2 decades of her life to bringing me up with love and a lot of patience! For a happy, safe childhood I am eternally grateful. I remember her today with love and gratitude.
