Cabin Diaries #4 – Nude in the Wood

“Every man has the right to a Saturday night bath” – President Linden B. Johnson

(From a time when the President gave good advice.)

I’ve decided to heed the president’s advice, and found it to be sage to say the least.

I’m not usually a bath guy. I would more often opt for the convenience and speed of a shower. However, while life is at this slower pace, I’ve been treating myself.

And what a treat it has been.

The candles, the hot water and the bath bomb create a deep state of relaxation. I feel like a middle-aged professional, finally unwinding after a long week at the office. (An unfamiliar feeling, given that I’m 21 and never had a job that pays above minimum wage).

The baths at the cabins are out on the decking. It felt a bit strange at first, stripping off and feeling the cold air on my… chest, but I’ve come to love it. Ben Franklin liked to start every day with an “air bath”, and I can see where he was coming from. There’s something very natural, primal even, being in the wilderness, soaked in the light of the moon.

It’s a ritual now; a ceremony of self-care. I shuffle my ‘kicking-back hard’ playlist, pour myself a glass of wine, and embrace the time to myself.

This weekend, why don’t you try to re-create the Dreamcatcher experience at home? Light some candles, put on the Dreamcatcher playlist Jamie’s made, and embrace the President’s wisdom.

Have a great weekend everyone.
